Info for Hikers
How to hike Pine Mountain!
Horton Center is on private property, owned and operated by the New Hampshire Conference of the United Church of Christ, located on top of Pine Mountain where church youth summer camp is held each summer during the months of June, July, and August. Retreats are also held on the property in the shoulder seasons during May, September and October.
While the hiking trails (Pine Mountain Trail, Ledge Trail) surrounding our campus and buildings are available to hikers year-round, we ask that you please abide by our posted signs delineating camp boundaries. Horton Center's campus and buildings are off-limits to hikers year-round. This is in accordance with our safe camp policy and the guidelines of the American Camp Association, of which Horton Center is an accredited member site. When summer camp is in session (June -August), use of Chapel Rock is restricted to registered Horton Center campers only.
During the non-summer season, we welcome hikers to enjoy the climb up to, and stunning views at Chapel Rock, unless the sign is up across the bottom of the stairs at the beginning of the Chapel Rock trail.
We love this area and enjoy sharing the trails with others who also have an affinity for these beautiful treasures known as the White Mountains. We ask that you please respect our wishes to keep camp private and safe by staying on the designated trails which lead you around and not through our campus. Thank you for respecting our privacy in our summer camp use of Chapel Rock, a sacred place to those of us who call Horton Center our spiritual home.
Thank you and happy hiking!
